Mead Public Library Hansen Teen Library Center

Location Sheboygan, Wisconsin
Project Type Interior Remodel
Project Area 1,200 sq. ft.
Year 2009 (completed by Jennifer L. Lehrke while a Senior Architect at LJM Architects)

A portion of the second floor of Mead Public Library was remodeled into a new teen library. The expanded area for teen literature, computer stations, and reading lounge was named the Myrtle and Hazel Hansen Teen Library Center, after Sheboygan natives and sisters whose bequest funded the project. A spiral staircase connected to previously unfinished space on the third floor that became the Dr. Jerome M. Maas Learning Center, a teen space for lounging, small performances, and gaming. The two spaces were designed with modern, colorful, and vibrant new finishes and furnishings.
